Actually my PDA (a HP iPaq H6315) was bought from t-mobile themselves. It is a T-mobile branded PDA, even locked to T-mobile. I never unlocked it.

Even then it is so old that it does not have T-zones on it.....just Pocket internet explorer. There are icons for "T-mobile " and "setup wireless e-mail" on its today screen (the desktop) but they just open pIE and try to go to a website.

Of course they dont work because t-mo blocks port 80. I actually get an error.......something from teh server about the page not found or access denied or something.

BTW, Yahoo messenger still works, but dont tell anyone...please!

However, given the fact that T-Mobile blocks "port 80" access for their To Go users might be the reason why a To Go customer can't get to T-Zones using an unlocked device, unless the T-Zones link is there to begin with, like the Dash for one (I'm no expert, and admit that I could be wrong about this).
Is your settings set to Port 80 on your Treo, using that postpaid SIM card?

No Ellen, I like my PDA very much.........I use its computer functions much more than its phone.

Unless there is a T-zones compatible PDA out there I wont upgrade.

That sounds right. Unfortunately I deleted my TM settings to save space. I copied the settings from his PDA phone, so it probably was "80".

I was using the T-Mobile Dash a few months ago with my T-Mobile To Go SIM card, and I didn't have a problem accessing their limited T-Zones sites. However, I wasn't able to go to any sites other than that.

    Hope this makes sense.
    Ellen, yes it does, thanks.

Just to clarify, for a pre-pay there needs to be an actual builtin browser that is available on TM PDA phones, to access TZ not just settings, right? I am assuming since T-Zones is the only way to access the internet with a prepay this is the reason. I can access the internet fine with a regular TM postpay SIM in my Treo.

Ellen, question for you. I tried my friends T-Mobile pre-pay SIM in my unlocked Treo but could not access T-Zones, got all sorts of error messages. So if this was a T-Mobile PDA I would have been able to access T-Zones on Pre-Pay, or are there only some particular PDAs that this would work on?

    Thanks.

Actually .....Ellen IS right. Only on a "PDA on a go phone plan" internet is blocked.......UNLESS your device can get T-zones.
I mean if your PDA or phone supports T-zones you will get the 3-4 websites.......thats it.

    But sidekicks are different........

The customer service told me that the only way to get internet on a pre-paid plan is to get sidekick. As I mentioned earlier sidekicks use a different protocol for internet access (in the background). And for whatever reason sidekicks are NOT blocked!

Can someone who has a smartphone / PDA phone with T-zones on it send me the URL to T-zones.

Hey, if there is a link to T-zones that means there is a URL!

Ah, okay. That makes sense that it is all SmartPhones.

    Thanks Ellen

    I dont fully understand either!

I understand that T-zones is a watered down internet access to only a few websites. That is via WAP.

Apparantly the HP H6315 does not come with a WAP browser by default. For T-mobile IE does not count. I told the rep that I have installed a WAP browser - Klondike but how to access T-zones on that browser. She did not have an answer.

I am still searching for a URL to the T-zones website.

Yes, you are right....the tech support confirms that.

The problem with Flex Pay is that I still wont get any internet UNLESS I add the internet for 20 bucks a month !
Also No free T-zones because this iPaq does not support T-zones (thats what they say!)

That is asking for too much for SLOOOOOOW GPRS. Furthermore I dont plan to use internet on the iPaq regularly.......only for emergency access.

.....so it does not make any sense to me to ditch my prepaid.
    Thanks anyway!

You can always use the WiFi to access the WAP.

Ellen, the WiFi should work, right?

Also if I try to use "WAP gateway connection" as connection type.....I get :
    Reason: Timeout waiting for reply

But here is when it gets interesting:
If I try to use direct HTTP connection and try to access the homepage (the one you told me to set the homepage to) I get redirected to this:
    10.176.39.70/resources/webpages/error.jsp
    I then get this message:

    Error Unknown

Your homepage is temporarily unavailable. Please try later.

I think T-mo has specifically denied us access.
