The PalmOS is on deaths door step. Palm sold Palm Source to a Chinese company a few years back, in the hopes of getting a more Lunix based system. Which never came about. Since then Palm has sold off pieces of their company and outsourced manufacturing to other companies. The only chance they have is to use Windows Mobile. The only good thing about PalmOS right now is that because the system is almost dead; companies are giving away the software for free. You can also find unlocked software at [urlxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx[/url] in their Palm Treo section. I got a lot of software from there.
but as far as there being a future for PalmOS, that is most likely never going to happen. The OS your using on the Centro; is the very same one used in the Treo 650. They just fixed a few bugs. I used to be a major fan of Treo's, but after I bought the Centro, and had the same bugs and problems; I realized Palm was happy just milking customers of their money.

So enjoy the PalmOS while you can. Palm is moving towards Windows Mobile.

I like my Centro. It's my first "smartphone" though so take that how you want. The keys acatually are much easier to hit than I thought they would be, and trust me, I'm a big person so it really did surprise me how easy I can use it. The only thing I would tell you to steer clear of is the metal cases for the Centro. I've bought two different ones because I work in corrections and I did not want it to get broken. The metal cases rob you of roughly 2-3 bars though. Found out when I would lose signal in my car. Took the case off and voila, I would get my signal back.
I love the Palm OS, though it looks dated. You can download launchers and such to change the look though. I just like that it does not lag when you are going through menus and such and there are soooo many free apps to download.
I can go into more detail if you like about setting up e-mail, the desktop program, etc... if you like.

    Cliffs: I love mine

I had the Centro on Sprint's network and it is junk. If you have used any of the Treo's since 2003; Treo 600, 650, 700, 750, ect; then you have used the Centro. Except the Centro's buttons are so tiny that it makes writing much harder to do. It's junk, and on AT&T, you will be spending an extra $40 a month just for PDA data! So if you like bills that are over $100 a month, then I guess get it.
