    2) For the SIM to be at fault and sending text messages "as a priority" - that means over-riding any commands or apps running on the handset - means the SIM is most likely to have installed Proactive SIM application defined by GSM Standard GSM11.14. Proactive SIM events are usually associated with events pre-recorded or user initialised in the Calendar on the handset e.g. you pre-arrange the Calendar to automatically send your Sister a text on her birthday.
(2a) Check to make sure there are no calendar events been set up and basically clear all calendar events.

    3) It could simply be the nibbles (hexadecimal) commands from the handsets are being misinterpreted by the SIM - in which case it could be incompatibility.
    (3a) Talk to your operator.

    4) It could still be a compatibility issue and the SIM is calling to the network for SIM update - but failing to register the request, because the problem hasn't gone away.
    (4a) Talk to your operator.

It could, of course, be none of the above - in which case - talk to your operator.
I checked my usage online an it appears that this is not using up any sms messages. The sending sms dialog appears different than when sending a real sms.

Some others at the Nokia forums are having the same problem. Someone there said it stops after 4 days and that it might have something to do with T-Mobile buying out SunCom, but that seems a bit fishy to me. I can't leave the phone on all the time because the memory is quickly used up. I'm waiting for someone to post updates.

    UPDATE 1
well i narrowed it down to operator settings, and i just did a *#7370#. the message pops up with the operator settings icon, and it goes every 10 seconds but lasts a milisecond then disappears. any help?

    UPDATE 2
well I've tried everything, MMS settings, internet settings, factory resets multiple times, and installing a task manager to see if I could stop these messages. it seems like every 5-30 seconds a message is sent and interrupts things but after it sends after a milisecond everyhthing goes back to the way it usually goes. I tried suncom support to send 6300 settings (closest nokia they have listed) but no go. reset the phone again and tried the wizard for the millionth time, but it seems like it wont go away. I have listed the suncom data, mms, and two internet profiles from suncom. for some reason the operator settings seems to keep texting something or someone with updates or something. it's the most irritating thing and may make me just return this phone if it doesn't go away.

I'm having the same problem. I tried putting the sim in the free phone that suncom gave me and I got "sim registration failed" and the phone white screens about once every minute. With my N82, I can do everything, but the constant "sending text message" is really annoying. I was considering going back to the suncom store, but since others are having the problem, I guess there isn't anything they can do. Let me know if you guys have figured out the cause of the problem.

I have similar situation....I think it's the provider's sim card that causing you the trouble...when I put sim card from another provider the problem disappears.
