Yeah, i have integrated GPS and network options checked. In the positioning server the address is h-slp.mcn030.mcc216.pub.3gppnetwork.org which after i checked it is correct because the 216 number corresponds to Hungary which is the country i currently study at. I ll try in a few hours when i ll be free to roam around the city and see if i can manage to get a lock. If not then maybe there is some other problem that i 've failed to notice. EDIT: Well i took a stroll in town and navigon didn't manage to get any signal whatsoever. I noticed though that when i run the gps data tool when i go into the submenus for half a second it shows "waiting for gps signal" (or similar) and it immediately changes into "no connection", somehow i feel that it should show that after a few minutes rather like that. i'm almost positive i'm doing something else wrong, or maybe the phone is broken.
Humm. Well, I live in Chicago where there are tons of huge buildings and high density. Hard to get it to work downtown, but it does after a while of driving aroung. I never have a problem when I get out of the city. I think the key is to move around. When you go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > POSITIONING...what does it say? Mine is checked on "Integrated GPS" and "Network Based". The positioning server is set to "h-slp.mnc026.mcc310.pub.3gppnetwork.org". As for the assisted GPS- I think that it uses a combination of the cellphone tower information and the positioning server to approximate your position until it locates the sats.
Well at this moment i live in a quite crowded city with lots of 5-6 story buildings all over the place so i kinda hope that the reason that i don't get any gps signal at all. I used google maps too and i got a good approximation of where i was actually at but it was through network as it kept waiting and waiting to connect to an actuall satellite. I tried to download an xtra.bin through the phone but it keeps failing, that maybe could help if it worked. I don't think though that this phone has AGPS, if it did shouldn't it be listed in the "positioning methods" menu? When i ll have some time i ll try go into an open space and see if i can get a lock. If i don't i ll probably shoot my self out of frustration.
I've had the Samsung G810 for a few months now and experienced the same issue. As it turns out, I finally got it to work by being patient. Apparently, small devices with GPS chips in them take a while to fixate on the satellites. Its common from what I see in various forums. I finally got it to work. I downloaded google maps for the G810 by going to google.com/gmm on the phone's browser. After running google maps (which supports the assisted-gps the phone is capable of), it finally found and kept the signal. This can take one-five minutes or more. I get mine to work about 70% of the time now. It can be quite frustrating though when you need a signal instantly. Hope this helps
So, a few days ago i have gotten a G810 but i no matter what i do i can't make the gps work. Some navigating programs that i have keep saying that there isn't signal. Even the included gps data menu when starts it immediately gives me a no-connection message and just stays there. Does anyone know how to make it work?
