    i live i kingston jamaica and i have a motorola i880 and i was wondering if any one could please help me with unlocking it? i am really in need! please someone!

    ah.. well then. i stand corrected.

    i did some digging around and realized that the "Mike" phones are apparently separate from "Telus" and do use iDEN. I would assume though that you would need a SIM card from that network though. From what I understand, those things are network specific. But then again, I don't know jack about GSM and iDEN really since I live in the US and the majority of our networks run on CDMA.

    wrong again Telus Mike does use the iden and both telus mike and nextel offer the i880 and I know you can use nextels on telus mike once unlocked I just am not sure if I need a telus mike sim card or if the nextel phone sim card will work.

    hmm.. this must be something new. from what i have always heard though, Telus is a CDMA carrier. Regardless whether they are CDMA or GSM, the fact is that neither is compatible with the IDEN that Nextel uses (as far as I know).

    actually Telus Mike does use sim cards I use this service for work and am thinking of switching from Telus Digital PCS to Telus Mike

    Sorry dude. that wont work. Telus is a CDMA carrier and doesnt use a SIM card. Nextel uses IDEN. The two communication types are totally incompatible.

    Hi I am looking at getting a new phone a motorola i880 to be exact. I am from Canada and will be looking to put it on the telus Mike network. I know Nextel has the same phone and can be used on the telus mike network once unlocked. Anyway what I am wondering is if I get a nextel phone and get it unlocked do I need to get a new sim card to use instead of the one it would have from nextel. or will the one it came with work when I hook it up to telus Mike
