long time ago when sms wernt widely used you could hide your number for SMS but they stopped that or some reason. i duno if there is still any way to do it. btw how do you change your caller ID for phone calls? ive been wondering that for a while.

Caller ID is pretty easy to alter. So there must be some way to change your ID for an SMS too? I mean change it to a specific chosen number. There are sites out there that CLAIM to do this but they don't. The SMS comes as from either a random 4 digit number or there is inclusion of some freetext.com or something like it in the from address.

So how would it be done? VOIP? Something else?
