    My next door neighbor a long time ago also had a woody Edsel wagon but
    I don't think it was a Villager. I think (and google seems to agree)
    it was a Bermuda, a higher trim level than the Villager.

    It was called the Villager. There was one model with fake woody wagon
    panels that looked very nice. I know someone with the woody wagon
    Villager in fully restored condition. What's odd about it is he drives
    it quite a bit, not stored as a museum piece....and he has very little
    trouble with it, the complaint that killed Edsel in the first place.
    Not sure why. By today's standards, it's HUGE and VERY heavy. You
    stomp on the pedal, though, and those dual quad carbs dump that big V-8
    full of gas and it will squall the tires tearing away from that kid in
    the honda with the fancy wheels and loud muffler....much to his
    dismay...(c;

    Er, ah....It helps if you own a Texaco refinery. Driven easy, I think
    it can probably clear 9mpg at 60 on a flat road with no load...(c;

    You don't want to drive it far without lots of headroom on your credit
    card.

    ==============================================================

    Hey, Apple stock went up today! First time all week, just like the
    market. NASDAQ had a little gain...speculators buying techs.

    I'm riding Wachovia back up, now that Wells Fargo IS going to get the
    company, intact. I got in at $3.82 during yesterday's market crash.
    We're already back up to $5.15 at the close, today! I'll get about 1200
    shares of Wells Fargo if I hang on long enough.....but, I'm not very
    loyal, of course.

    Watch Apple. Wall Street loves AAPL and has starting collecting what's
    left of its value at $89/share. It's still rising in the afterhours at
    $97. Sure glad I dumped it at $190 before the crash...(c;

    You've got me- I have no idea.

    Seems like it oughta be sellin' for more than $89/share, doesn't it?

    Maybe iPhone isn't an important part of Apple and the Macs tanked.

    Wish I could get one at half price.

    Any student of P.T. Barnum would realize that it wasn't impossible at all...
    ;-)

    As far as those here who disbelieved, they can take heart that it only took
    three things to make it happen- replace the original iPhone with a new model
    that corrected most (but by no means all) of the shortcomings of the
    original, abandon Apple's original ideals of forced revenue sharing and
    3rd-party app prohibitions, and finally, they cut the price significantly.
    Hell, Ford could've sold ten million Edsels if they halved the price and
    doubled it's speed as well! ;-)

    3 months early, Apple has reached its goal for 2008 that so many
    here refused to believe was possible.
