Rae, I work with Consumer Cellular and we have two new phones available that provide extra loud ringtones and clear voice. They are called the Doro PhoneEasy 345 and 410 for $40 and $50, respectively. One is a candy bar style phone and the other is a flip phone. Wow, thanks for the exact information I was looking for. My husband also has hearing loss, probably from being a mechanic for 30 years and not having any ear protection and using very loud impact tools.

We recently switched to Consumer Cellular because they are sooo reasonably priced and have NO contract and their phone prices are reasonable as well. We've been with them for about 6 months now and it's the BEST customer service I've ever had.

Problem is we got Nokia 6085's and he can't hear the ring tone. They do offer a Motorola KRZR-K1. Is this similar to the phone you are recommending? Also, do all Motorols phones have the crystal talk technology?

We were considering replacing his Nokia with a Motorola EM330 available from Consumer Cellular, but I read a lot of bad reviews on it's flip coming apart at the hinge, so I'm hesitant. I had a Motorola designed like the RAZR when we used Net10, but I can't remember how loud the ring was - of course it's difficult for me to judge, since I don't have the hearing loss that my husband does.

I have a sifnificant hearing loss from military service 1970 era. Tinnitis on top of that (severe).

The Motorola Razr2 V9x is the best I've found. I have the V3m on Alltel & the V9x on AT&T. Believe me, I've tried them all. The "Crystal Talk" technology is not hype, it works. Those on the other end cannot tell you are on a cell phone. I have gone thru a bunch of phones & this is the first one that I can actually hear my ring tone from the other room. It is the first one I can talk/listen without straining or guessing what is being said. I don't have to run for cover ( a quiet place I can talk/listen ). It is as distinct & clear as it is loud.

I have tried too many phones to list, but I have also tried several of the BlackBerry phones. The Motorola just has that little extra that allows me to talk & recommend it.

It also has the best reception of any phone I've been around. I will still be talking/have a signal long after everyone else has quit. I am currently trying a BlackJack II as I had a program that I needed a smart phone, but it simply doesn't have the reception ( be aware I live in a rural area) or the sound clarity & volume of the Razr. Close but that little bit of difference is significant if you have a hearing loss & cannot communicate.

Read a bit about the crystal talk & then believe me, it works. Probably the most underrated/appreciated cell phone technology today. I'm talking cell phone, not gadgetry. I think you will be satisfied with the Razr if any phone is going to work. Be aware the Razr2 will do a lot of things but it is not a true smart phone. I now use a Razr & a PDA for my formularies, etc. I can look up the need information on the pda while speaking on the phone & works for what I need & do. Good luck & hope that helps. For me it is fantastic & exactly what I need. My only concern is if & when the Razr2 is no longer available.

Wow, I actually was in school jazz band for three years and being affected by the drums too. (I was a guitarist and stood right beside drum sets.) I just never thought about wearing ear plug.

Not sure about the loud and clear phone, maybe you could try use a noise cancelling headset with your cellphone. Plug those earbuds to your ear may help.

I think samsung phones are louder but not sure about AT&T network.

I'm a longtime musician having stood next to drummers for 25 years, so, I'm a bit deaf. I'm looking for a loud, clear phone. It's come to the point where I never use my cell, always calling someone back from a land line. I'm forced to stay with Cingular/AT&T and currently use one of their FREE (guess I got what I paid for) Nokia Flips, Model 6085. Unclear, garbled conversations - - - - for me at least. I'm not necessarily knocking their product. For all I know it has a great sound quality.....though not to my ears.

I don't surf, email or listen to music with my cell. Bluetooth is my only requirement.

Can Anyone recommend a solution from ATT's list of phones? I tried to include a link to their site, but, Forum rules state I haven't posted enough for that privilege.
