I actually had the keyboard replaced recently at a cellphone repair shop, and am wondering if they got some sweat or liquid on a cable, as I read that this will have the effect that I am witnessing on my phone's display screen. So I am reluctant to go either there again or to another cellphone repair shop. And frankly the phone is not worth spending too much more on as is a bit old.

But I like the phone. So I am thinking I may have a go at fixing it myself. Nothing to lose, really

I think you are right about the LCD, and I will try to replace it. I need to find out where I can get the part. I also need to find some good sony ericsson w800i disassembly instructions . Any advice would be welcome.

as El Super Moderador was suggesting, you could've gotten the phone replaced/fixed for free IF it was under warranty and there was no real sign of physical abuse done to the phone. But since you said you have taken it to repair shops already and you said it's really old ( can mean you've had it a real longggg time, more than 1 yr ), then IF u really wanna spend more dough on it, I suggest you take it to the same shop or another repair shop. Call them 1st and ask if they have any LCD/Display for your phone (they'll more than likely ask u what model, tell them its the Ericsson W800 ) If they have it, I'm pretty sure they are competent enough to get it replaced As to whether they had let some liquid get in it before while at the shop, I doubt that very much I think you can trust them. I wouldnt suggest you try to put it in yourself, it might cost you even more in tears and frustration if you happen to nick anything off the circuit board while opening the phone

If you purchased your phone less than a year ago it should still be under warranty, take it back to your service provider so they can look at it before you spend any money elsewhere.

I think it's the LCD that's the problem. Get it replaced at a reputable cellphone repair shop nearest to you. Hope my suggestion helps
