I have a Samsung u740, and it was working great. I would occassionly use an external antenna for my house since I live near a mountain. Everything worked great and life was good. It got good reception outside my house, and when I used it at my house with the external antenna, it also got a great reception.

That's when tragedy struck! I accidently broke this phone (my fault) and got an exact replacement from Verizon. It worked fine at the store, but as soon as I plugged it in at home into my antenna, and then removed the antenna, it was like the internal antenna was completely disabled. I couldn't even make a call from a Verizon store.

Verizon couldn't figure it out, and gave me a new one. I just assumed it was a bad phone, no worries, and my life would return to normal. The second phone worked great at the store and at work, and when I got home, I plugged it into my antenna, and BAM!, it did the same thing, disabling my internal antenna. The phone works great when the antenna is plugged in, but as soon as I remove it, it doesn't matter where I am, the phone can't get a signal. I've done everything, shut it on and off, taken the battery out, completely recharged it, etc.

The only thing I can guess is when an external antenna is used, the internal one is switched off, permanently. Is there a a fix for this? The old phone didn't have this defect. I'm amazed it would do this, since it has an antenna port for this very use. Am I just going to have to get a new phone, and throw away my antenna.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
