If you have a card and a card reader you can just copy music and or ringtones from your computer right onto the card. When you do it this way (with Verizon at least) you have to send the SOUND via text message to yourself and save it as a RINGTONE or you cannot use it as a ringtone.

    Hope it helps!
How were you able to save it as a ringtone? I tried doing this and all it did was save it as a SOUND file.

Old thread, I know, but I didn't see this mentioned here. Just create a free account at https://picture.vzw.com and upload your pictures and tones there. From that site you can send them to any VZW phone.

You can do all that with GIMP and a USB cable or SD reader.

here have been times when I wanted to transfer pictures in my PC to my cell phone. I have a nice digital camera and have shot some really cool pictures. So I did not bother to pick up a cell phone with a camera. Now when I want to set some of my pictures as wallpaper in my cell phone it is not possible. That is when I bumped on this site, Funmo.com. This site allows me to choose pictures/ringtones from my PC and transfer it to my cell phone. I cannot just transfer pictures but also add a dozen different effects to them, add captions and have it sent across to my cell phone. Isn’t that really cool?

You can use phonezoo.com. Its free to sign up and its extremely easy. You upload the files you want as ringtones then pick a thrity second clip. After that it sends the file to your phone via pic message and all you have to do is save it. Hope this helps!!

I'm not sure about using the data cable..I can use mine for music only. It doesnt want to work to upload photos and things like that. I wouldn't expect anything less from verizon.

It works for pictures too, if you want to send a pic to your phone to use as a background image.
this was the best answer and worked for me, thanks

You need to make your tune smaller file size to play these as ringtones,
some phones block bigger files so that you can't play them as ringtones. On my phone I cut the mp3 files into 30 second clips.
