Well, Verizon Wireless is known for having the closest thing to contract for prepaid.

This means, most of the features you could get with a monthly price contract you can get on prepaid with no contract.

They have amazing text message services for prepaid. Everything is based on the balance you put on it with a refill card (which is available for purchase at a Wal-Mart, Target, Verizon Wireless Store, etc). So...just make sure you purchase enough balance for the services you will be using. They have unlimited IN text messaging plus 250 messages off network. IN messaging means you can text other Verizon Wireless customers free. This is $10 per month and is deducted from your current balance. They also have unlimited messaging available for $20 per month and is also deducted from your monthly balance. You also don't need to have a texting plan to text. I'll explain that a little later.

They do allow you to access mobile web (wireless internet) on prepaid. They bill you a flat rate of $0.99 per 24 hours of use of mobile web (only on days you actually launch/use it). Use it as much as you want within that time, no extra fees.

They also allow you to take advantage of the V CAST services (download/listen to music on your device) and watch video clips on your device. A compatible device is required.

They offer multiple plans which bill a daily access fee. You only pay the daily access fee on days you use your phone for voice calls. Text messaging does not trigger the daily access fee.

For a daily access fee of $0.99 per day (on days you use it for voice):

As far as companies rated for best prepaid, that would be Tracfone. They offer a lot of coverage, powered by Verizon Wireless, nationwide. They will not offer a lot of services (such as internet/email). The main reason they are rated the best is due to simplicity of service.
