Yes they do work, as I had a 4gb Patriot MicroSD in my 8100 and now using that same card in my 8320 Curve.

When you put the card in your Berry, did you put it UNDER the door and close it or did you put it INTO the door and then close it?

Many people make the mistake of putting the SD card UNDER the door when it actually slides into the door.

If you have indeed inserted it correctly, it might be the slot itself is bad.

Edit: when I bought the 8100 second hand, the original owner was using a 1gb Patriot MicroSD and kept that to place in his Curve.

From your description it sounds like the media card reader inside the BlackBerry is not working properly (i.e. BB hardware problem).

I have a blackberry pearl 8100; I have read the threads and the suggestions aren't working on my blackberry
i Just bought a patriot microSD 2Gb card.
I put my MicroSD card into the blackberry and it said Media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted. So i tried formating it on my blackberyy and it said Media Card Format Failed. Then my friend who has a storm formatted it for me and it was formatted. I put it into my phone and the same message appeared. Then i formatted it again but this time on my computer. I put it in again and it said the same thing. (BTW my sim card is not in my blackberry, i do not know if this will effect anything but)
    MY SETTINGS were:
    Media CARD SUPPORT-ON
    ENCRYMPTION MODE-NONE
    MASS STORAGE MODE SUPPORT-ON
AUTO ENABLE MASS STORAGE MODE WHEN CONNECTED-ON

to add when i hooked it up to desktop manager then blackberry media sync it said on my blackberry: the media card is not available because mass storage mode is currently in use
BUT on the blackberry sync it said error please check that media card is installed correctly in your blackberry device ( which it is)
and mass storage mode is turned on ( which it is)

if u could help me out i'd deeply appreciate it
