The myxer sites puts the audios you create into your my stuff folder.. it works.. its legit.. 40sec max on the songs but thats all you need...... other than that a quick way is crop the audio thru windows movie maker... when saving lower the bitrate so the file ends up being under 512kb.. change format to .3g2 with winrar since it lets u full change the name without using a converter..then get it in the dcim folding on your sd card. then assign the song to song thru sounds incoming calls...etc.etc. (if the song isnt loud at first when editing itll likely play your original one, so when editing make sure you have beats pumping from the go.. you only have 30 secs when someone is calling anyways.)

    got the truth
go to a site called myxer, make yourself a profile, upload your mp3 file make the length you want and send it to your phone.

youll open the message, follow the link and hit download that simple

theyll go into your my stuff folder and you can set them as text, ringtone, voicemail, whatever

What pandabear1986 suggested really works! Thanks so much, I was so freaking stuck it wasn't even funny. I could get the custom images to work but not the ringtones.

I found a way... I had the MP3 file on my computer, so I used a free web site called Rumkin. I was able to upload the MP3 file to that site, and then the site sent the MP3 file directly to my cell phone and added it to the list of ringtones. I was then able to assign it as a ringtone. The MP3 file is saved directly in the phone's memory, though, not on the SD card.
i got the sms with the ringtone but how do i save it on my rant?

The ringtones you create on your computer by following the steps above can not be used as text ringers. You can always use myxer and then all the ringtones will be added to the ringtone folder as if you bought them from sprint.

I'm so glad I found this.

I was so distraught that I couldn't set mp3's and the like as ringtones. That they had to be videos, 3g2 videos at that. This is my first phone that has video, camera, and ringtone choice capabilities so you should've seen my disappointment when this replaced my phone (such a dinosaur!)

For those looking to download a conversion program. I didn't. I just made my ringtone at myxer.com and saved it to my computer, went to mediaconverter.org and converted the file I needed in the web browser. You only get a set number of conversions a day (I think) but I feel it's worth it.

When it's on your computer it will say 3gp file. But the file extension WILL be .3g2 I swear this confused me at first because I had converted to a .3gp extension before instead and it didn't work because it read 3g2 file. So yeah that stuff needs to be in reverse it seems. Make sure it's a .3g2 extension with the file format reading 3gp! I was frustrated because my favorite online converter only changed the file to .3gp. ( media-convert.com /convert) I lost a lot of hope then! So just use the first link. Otherwise the second converter site is still pretty awesome.

From there I used my wireless bluetooth connection from the laptop. Put it in the folder that everyone suggested here, etc etc.

    Thank you!

I hope I wasn't charge data use from all those attempted downloads I tried from myxer and ventones. Nothing transferred! And I know they charge per KB so I'm really curious...

willl someone please answer me....i am so pissed off right now ****! please!

I had the same problem and tried different things and one thing worked out for me.

Try to record a video file and save it on your SD card.

then go to the ringer and set the newly recorded video file as your default ringer with caller ID. now saving to phone should work fine.

after this worked out, try to save your ringtones as your ringer for your contacts. and go back to the default ringer and change it to some other song.

    hope this work for you.
