Make you you have the sim card OUT of the phone as well as the media card (if you added one).

You did the right thing with taking the battery out of the phone. Now LEAVE it out of the phone of 5 days. Not 1 day, not a couple of days 5 FIVE HALF of 10.

Leave the back off the phone as well, and the phone really should be COVERED in rice. Actually buried in it. And NOT open to the outside air, where is can also draw moisture from as well as the phone. You could also go to the hardware store and buy a package of those dehumidifying crystals that are used to keep RVs and small rooms dry. In fact they work better than rice does and can be reused.

While you are waiting for the phone to dry, go buy a can of compressed air so you can blow the phone out before you ever put the battery back into it AFTER the five days are up.

No telling if the phone will be saved or not, but right now you don't have much to lose by waiting and making sure the phone is dry as a bone, before adding power to it again.

Check you home owners or renters insurance to see if they cover water damage. If not check into what it will cost for coverage for your electronics, might well be worth the cost in the future.

I got the new Blackberry Bold on Sunday, and I've literally been the most cautious person ever. I wrap it up in it's little travel case whenever I go out, I always keep it in my bag in it's pocket, and I have a little case I put it in at night. I have been nothing but cautious.

But, my luck, I was in the bathroom today and my Bold was in my pocket. I reached to flush and *PLOP*. It fell in. I got it out of the toilet in no more then 3 seconds, and took out the battery and back and stuff about a minute later. I wiped it all down, did everything I could, and I've even got it sitting in a bowl of rice right now.

What are the odds of it actually working again? Or, has anyone else done the same thing with the Bold? I'm actually devastated, because I know my warrenty doesn't cover water damage. Who knows the odds of it ever working again?
