Motorola had the 3rd place about half a year ago but according to DigiTimes, LG Electronics managed to ship over 100 million mobile phones in 2008, while leaving Motorola at just 99.9 million shipped. This gives LG the third largest handset maker in terms of shipments, beating out Motorola and Sony Ericsson who placed fourth and fifth.
