Nokia, the world’s largest mobile phone maker, has recently announced plans to offer severance packages to the first 1,000 employees who volunteer to resign their posts. The company's effort to cut cost to $897 million per year is the reason for the resignation-for-severance.
Any unpaid leave is encouraged by Nokia to which forces employees to take a non-paid vacation.
This resignation plan plans on starting in March 1 of this year. Employees can sign up now until the 1,000 resignations have been given the pink slip or until March 31, 2009.
