I have telenav with AT&t and I can't live without it, literally. I have had a Garmin nuvi 750 and TomTom GO 720, and Telenav literally has at least twice the POI. I remember those expensive map updates too, telenav has FREE map, poi, voice, etc updates. I first saw TeleNav mentioned in the New York Times and then I went to their website:telenav.com $10/month is a great deal, especially considering it offers more features than a $600 standalone unit.
Where can I download gps apps for palm?

^ You are absolutely right; When the phone is in a dead zone or rings my GPS is dead in the water. I will try TomTom and see how it works RE: I dont think Telenav is exclusive to Sprint. Telenav maps realtime (You get what you pay for) TomTom maps are outdated. (unless you can update them every day) This is my Freedom GPS Keychain:
Cam, I don't know where you are, but i used to travel all over the US for work. On thing i found is that relying on my phone's internet service for maps and diections is not a good idea. you get out in the western US and i dont care who your service provider is, you are going to have areas where it drops. As for standalone, i consider it standalone as i dont even have to have my cell phone working to use it. I dont have to have a data plan (for the first year i did not). With telenav if your cell phone cant make a connection, it is useless. I consider it a lot easier to carry around a pack of gum sized GPS reciver, then to make sure i have access to EVDO cell phone towers. After all the former, i control, the second i am at the mercy of the cell phone company. You can even get bluetooth GPS recivers for your keychain like thumbdrives. I have used my TomTom and bluetooth GPS in places such as Alaska, Montana, Navada, and west texas where roaming cell phone coverage was hit and miss for all carriers. I have used it going to the tops of mountians to the lowest valley's. It even worked a that bottom of the grand canyon. That is the advantage of have the software installed on the phone. If telenave works good for you great. They offerr a good service from what i have seen, but the OP ask for palm software for GPS. Telenav is a service provided by sprint. TomTom after initial cost does not require you to pay a subscription, so is software not a service. Not trying to pick a fight, but want to give the origional poster some things to think about. J
you will need an external GPS reciver That is not Stand alone My son has an Instinct+Telenav GPS = GPS Stand alone. Telenav works with the phones Internet and is included in our Vision package. GPS for palm? (Palm Treo + GPS software + GPS Receiver= GPS) (Palm Centro + GPS software = GPS)
Yes i can use the treo 700 as a stanalone GPS. you get the tom-tom software for palm and then you will need an external GPS reciver. this can be connected either via serial cable or bluetooth. I chose bluetooth. It will then work like any of the packed GPs units you buy. I got mine back when the 700p was brand new (the reson i waited for the 700p was the bluetooth). It works without any cell or data service, as the software is running on the phone and the GPS signal is from the recvier. If you go to places like treonauts and search for GPS you should see bundels of everything you need. Since the 755p is the same plam os it should work fine...no monthly fee. J
