Feel special. I joined just to answer your question.

You said the you rename it "to include .3g2 (example: deadandgone.3g2.MP3)" You need to take off the .mp3 It has to be just "deadandgone.3g2" that might be whats causing the problem. Computers only recognise whats after the last '.' as the file type, so your phone will still be thinking that it is an mp3 not a 3g2. If your computer is vista, that might be part of the problem because Vista doesn't like you changing extension, but you cannot just add in a .3g2 you have to change the .mp3 to .3g2 (by renaming the file) then click yes when it says "If you change a file extention it might become unstable, are you sure you want to change it?" Yes you want to change it.

Hope that helps, If you haven't figured it out already.

Ok guys and girls i have been trying for about 10 hours now to get a damn song ringtone on my phone. I have tried numerous websites that text you the ringtone but all fail including FunForMobile. i have been using this website to create my ringtones:

In case anyone else has the Samsung m510 and is trying to figure out how to put free ringtones onto it, take heart! Yes, it can be done, and yes, it is quite simple.

The phone supports both MP3 and AAC ringtones as long as they conform to these specifications:
The file size must be less than 512 KB.
The file name cannot contain spaces.
The file must have the .3g2 extension (note: for some reason, this is case-sensitive... the g must be lowercase or it will not work!)
The file can be put onto either the phone itself or the memory card, as long as it is placed in the DCIM\100SSMED folder. You can transfer the file to the phone via any method (Bluetooth, USB data cable, memory card, or WAP/Internet download).

Once you have the ringtone file uploaded to your phone, go to Pictures > My Albums > Memory Card (assuming you put the file on the memory card) and find the file. This is somewhat difficult because all of your ringtones will show up as a red X. You will not know the name of the file, so it is a good idea to name them using by selecting them and choosing Options > Details/Edit > Text Caption as soon as you upload them. Once you select the file you want as a ringtone, choose Options > Assign and assign it to what you want. To assign it to all calls, first do Options > Assign > Voice Calls > With Caller ID and then do Options > Assign > Voice Calls > No Caller ID.

That's it! It's quite simple as long as you know the naming limitations on the filename. No special programs or file formats are required -- just use Audacity to trim your song and export directly to MP3, then rename the file to have the .3g2 (again, must be lowercase!) extension. Voila, free ringtones for your m510
.

So i would create the start and end point in iTunes then create an AAC file. Drag that file on to my desktop (im using a mac if that helps). Re name it to include .3g2 (example: deadandgone.3g2.MP3) . Drag it onto the "DCIM" folder on my memory card. Once from there i can go to my videos and see the box with the red "x" but when i assign it as my ringtone it says "Media file saving has Failed". The phone is on VIRGIN MOBILE if that makes a difference. i have tried shortening it, editing it in other websites and NOTHING works!!! I just get this message everytime!!!!

Can someone help me???
