Metro PCS and CriKet both have room for expansion, due to their CDMA networks which can expand quickly at will...the Nextel network is no longer being upgraded.

Hi. I've been with Cricket for some time, and overall, I'm satisfied. The quality of the calls is good, as well as the rection. I've probably experienced a "dropped" call only 2 or 3 times in over a year. However, I live in a fairly large city, so the lack of coverage is probably not an issue.
Currently, I have unlimited talk, text and internet; however, the internet is slow and it only shows images that are still; no movies, YouTube videos, etc...
I pay 42.56 per month(40.00 plus tax). It costs 35.00 per month without the internet. Plus, a cool "perk" with Cricket is that the customer doesn't pay any of the BS fees, charges, surcharges, etc., that I had to pay with Verizon. The bill is very simple: 40.00 plus 2.56 for tax-end of story. And of course, there's no contract involved.
I'm now doing some research in regards to a "smartphone," but without a contract or a monthly rate that'll leave me "sore" every month. I'll probably pose a question or two in another category of this website, as my knowledge of smartphones is...well, limited.
If anyone has any feedback, questions or whatever, just drop me a line.

    Take care,

    hey blazinbear,
I recently switched from verizon to metro pcs and have a samsung fascinate. I switched over because i didnt want to be paying $100 a month for one phone, I have student bills I need to pay so I need to save my money...anyhow...when i switched over to metro i just bought one of the cheap $50 ones, but i would really like to flash my fascinate over to metro! I've heard of a guy in San Jose that will be able to unlock all metro features on the verizon phone, but i havent been able to the exact location...i was wondering who did yours? and how where u able to flash it yourself afterwards?

I live in southern ca. Whittier to be exact and i have metro pcs for over 3 years now. I can say that the coverage has gotten a whole lot better. I have no issues at all as far as how far i can go as longs as it is within the la area. and i travel a lot my job takes me out to thousand oaks ventura long beach downtown pasadena i can go down to diamond bar (poor reception here just about any carrier anyway) all over even down to san diego and i get coverage... So if you live out in southern cali go with metro. and as far as that boost mobile chick saying that you pay more than 40 bucks a month shes wrong.. I never pay more than 40.00. i pay online. 40 dollars flat all the time. not 40.01. 40 flat. usually the day they the service stops working cause i have not payed it cause im lazy. but than it takes like 15 min for service to resume no late charges. and for the person who wants a good phone do what i did. i bought a 150 dollar droid x that had a bad esn. (stolen or someone didnt pay their overpriced bill) from verizon wireless. paid someone online 30 dollars to add to metro pcs inventory (metro pcs wont do it for u. Im guessing that its not hard to add the esn they use houdini but houdini dont have the droid x so they use someother phone to trick the program put in the esn manually and walla. i might be wrong the guy didnt want to tell me how he did it. He has to be a metro pcs employee though.). than i flashed the phone myself and i get everything unlimeted text talk web mms maps navigation even pandora works. youtube will work just got to wait a lifetime but you can go wifi on that. but its awesome for a really cheap price. now if you got the money dont get me wrong go verizon. but a lot of people like to save. like me. now if i was a doctor or a lawyer id be paying verizon and than slaping my self on the face for wasting my time reading this thread cause im cheap jew. that goes out to the rest of you cheap skates you know who you are slap your selfs. this thread is for us low income people right?

Boost Mobile has phones that operate on the CDMA network like the Blackberry Curve 8330 in which I own. This phone works great. I have no problems. Texting works great also. I've gone to Cali, Texas, Florida, Vegas, the Carolinas, Virginia, Detroit, and I didn't miss a beat. Boost offer other phones that works on the CDMA network. Metro PCS, garbage. I've heard horror stories about them from friends who swithched to Boost. Cricket, I cannot speak on.

While I have to aggree with Nick, until Metro and Cricket (Metro in my neck of the woods) have expanded to a little better coverage, I think Boost is a great thing.

I used to have Nextel, about 5 years ago, and my Parents still have them. They work very well around here for them and the recently went to NY, DC, and WI and had virtually no issues where they were at.

Now, I have been in the "Crowd" of wanting the best, newest and such, but its getting real expensive, and I am starting to miss the old days of just a phone with just a phone plan...

I have T-Mobile and when my contracts are up, I am going to try out Boost or Metro.. or maybe both... because I just want to save a little money and not have such a high phone bill all the time.

We offer a monthly unlimited plan for $50 a month on a nationwide network with no roaming powered by Nextel. Our network covers 17,500 cities; Cricket and Metro PCS only cover 4,600 cities.... combined.

Our Monthly Unlimited offer provides unlimited talk, text, Web and walkie talkie. There are never any hidden fees (telecom taxes, replenishment fees, etc.), credit checks or contracts to sign.

You should know that if you sign up for a $45 plan with Cricket or MetroPCS what you are really paying per month with all the extra fees and taxes can easily become $60-$65 per month, or more depending on your use (i.e. roaming charges when traveling outside your home calling area). And, Cricket customers experience over 4x more dropped calls than Boost, and Metro PCS has twice as many dropped calls.
