I think in most cases the deductible on your homeowner's policy will be higher than the replacement cost of an iPhone.

I never thought about checking with my insurance company. I have USAA and their rates are great on just about everything. Thanks for the idea!

Best Buy's insurance program will replace your phone for practically any reason, but it's extremely expensive (<$125). Considering how easy it is to break the iPhone, though, it might be worth it to be careful. One drop and you could be screwed!

Statefarm offers insurance on iphones but it is at the discretion of the agent, beware of these types of insurers because if you add it to a policy and need your phone replaced this will increase your insurance bill....

And squaretrade is for people who fear dropping it, I worry about it being stolen or lost, so I never got that

Found out...squaretrade.com will cover the iphone against drops, spills and battery failure.
Will not cover loss or theft.

Found out Apple will sell extended manufactured defects warranty but won't cover damage.

I just checked with my local State Farm agent and they said that they do not cover cell phones anymore. She indicated to me that I might check with Nationwide, they might have something to offer. I have not called them.
That's kind of a bummer, I was looking forward to having at least a little coverage in case it was stolen.

You might check with State Farm Insurance. They have what's called a Personal Articles Policy that covers most anything. I'm not sure if they will cover the iPhone though (I am going to check this week for mine).
I have one of these policies on my camera equipment, and it will cover me if anything happens to any of my equipment, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. The policy on the camera stuff costs me about $1.50 per $100 of equipment.
A lot of companies will tell you that you could be covered under your homeowner's policy, but personally, I would never turn anything like that in under homeowner's (unless it's a dramatic loss).
If I find out before someone else posts, I will post a reply.
