I opened NUS today and was told there is a new version available. I accepted downloading it, however the installer at one point gave the message "Error 1714. The older version of Nokia Software Updater cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.".

What I tried to get around the problem (with no results):
    - I followed this procedure; after I ran the MSI file, I ended up with a very similar error message about an older version not being able to be uninstalled
    - used Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, and manually deleted the files that were unable to be deleted by the program
    - cleared the temp folders
    - restarted my computer

Can anyone suggest what else I can try to make the NSU installer work?

Ok this time I figured it out by myself In case anyone ever runs into this problem, try running Revo Uninstaller and get it to uninstall any traces of NUS. After I did that, I was able to install the new version of NUS.
