I think if its impliment properly and correctly, it will assist in many areas. Kidnapping victims able to call for help, people able to send picture messages of a suspect, all kinds of ways it can be abused tho too..

Wonder when they will start talking about it here...

Many areas are actually setting up 911 response system. This is actually there to try and aide the deaf when it comes to emergencies.

I texted it here...and received NOTHING back...but it hasn't been long (like 2 min or so). I know our area is starting to try and set something up here.

    Giving my update back:

I texted 911 while at work, from my G1 and got the error message like it was sent to a landline phone, so apparently it doesn't work from my area at all.

Maybe we can find someone in Iowa near Waterloo, or anywhere in the area of it and see if they can try.. or anyone from the surrounding states of Iowa to see if they get the same?

I'm not asking people to do it if they don't want to, but if you do just put test message as the body and if someone happens to call you back, just say it was only a test, but by all means don't ignore the call!.. lol...

I happen to work in a 911 Call center. Nothing is the shortest answer I can give you. There is a town called Waterloo, Iowa is the very first 911 center to respond to 911 text messages. If you text 911 from your phone right now, you will most likely get a message asking your zipcode that your in, or something similar. If your not inside of Waterloo, it will tell you to call 911.

I know I have never personally tried to text 911, but maybe I will for "intelligence" gathering, while at work ofcourse. I will report back soon!

Like the title says - does anyone have a truthful answer?
