I took them completely apart but i've been a phone tech for seven years. Kinda easy for me. The motherboard is the most important part, but if something shorts out in the LCD, then it'll fry the motherboard as well.
Brushing works best by the way. I've tried it all, spray on, dipping, hot air. Brushing with pure alcohol is the key, but the key is to do it as quick as you can.
I even brought back my cousins razr that he dropped in vodka and orange juice. He called me from someone elses phone and I told him to yank the battery out and wait till i got there, which was over a week. Cleaned it up real good and it fired right up. He's still using it to this day and that was two years ago.
I couldn't save the one he washed in the washing machine though. It was real clean, but real dead.

so you brushed the disassembled parts and didn't dip, right? Just how dissassembled was the phone? Are you talking taking the case apart and the screen out, or just taking the back cover off?

Well, I've done it around 4 times with various phones that i've had over the years. The key thing being that you must take the battery out as soon as the handset gets wet. The next thing i did after getting home was to take the handset apart and clean it with alcohol 99% is best but it's hard to find. I also brushed the entire board, connectors, and everything that got wet with a esd safe brush.

Works for me and i've done this to my K1m twice in the last 3 years and i'm still using it.
You have to be able to jerk the battery out as soon as it happens to prevent serious failure!

Got 2 google search hits about taking phone apart
and soaking phone in pure rubbing alcohol.
I wouldnt try it.

Has anyone tried and have proof that submerging a previously wet phone in alcohol works? I've heard that since alcohol doesn't connect any electricity and water does, this is what will neutralize that water and help it dry up.

I've also heard this will help if you spill a sticky substance such as juice or win on a phone.

Any truth to this?
