    ive never heard of using rice as a method before, quite interesting.

    hairdryer should work, if the phone is not too damaged.

    You probally powered up the phone to soon any time there is moisture you should wait at least 3 days for it to completely dry out.

    Or use those scilicone bags that have "do not eat written" on them, those are made to absorb moisture.

    Make sure it's white rice! Wild rice will stain and ruin the phone.
    As for w580i repairs, they are fairly easy to work on, might just be the LCD screen.

    Note to self - Don't play with phones around water!

    Water damaged phones can be repaired:
    Take the battery out while the phone drys for several days.

    lol.. it's not worth fixing.. water logged phones can't be fixed.. but see if my rice idea will work..

    let you phone dry as much as possible. .then put your phone in a bag of rice because rice will absorb moisture.. i tried it many times and it works!

    you shouldn't have used it right away, you should have let it dried for a couple of days. thus the result is short circuits probably.. try to bring it into a service center or a cellphone repair shop...have it looked and diagnosed... for most cases, water damage is unrepairable but replaceable ^_^
