I was told to hard wipe the phone (by pressing *#7370# Code 12345 or by holding down #3 and the green Call button whilst powering on the device) but none of that worked. What did work for me was removing the SIM which started the phone and allowed me to use the reset under the Options menu. After that I reinserted the SIM and it's been working fine since.

Give it a go, may well work for you too.

I was deleting unwanted applications and now I can't use my Nokia 5220 XpressMusic. The phone starts fine but then a message saying "Opening Messenger" appears indefinitely. I can press the "hang up" button which gives me the option of closing the application, but that in turn leads to a screen with only the battery and network indicators as well as the time. I can actually call the phone just fine, but it just won't let me access and functions.

I'm assuming I somehow deleted some essential system files (didn't even know that was possible) and need to reflash. Is this correct, and if so is the best option Nokia Software Updater?

    Thanks!
