you can still get Boost ULTD.

call customer service and tell them you live in Nevada. I have several friends in NY that have done this and they just use a Nevada address.

people just wait till jan. virgin mobile will be boost mobile. and VM is cdma. so put 2 and 2 together. another thing you can just do the esn swap on sprint.com.

i see hofo mentioned a couple times. yet most of the information isnt here.

yes to get a blackberry working you NEED the service books.

otherwise you just get voice and texts. i dont know if i am allowed to post the service books here but i will since no one should be charged for them.

and to be honest i have my BlackBerry curve from verizon on boost. if you want to know my trick i will explain in pm only. it does work and its easy.

as for iden the reception does blow. the towers have less of a range and use a much older codec.

i see people worrying about msl codes. call the original provider that you got the phone from. if you finished your contract with them or if it was a prepaid. they are required by law to give you your msl. as at that point you own the phone. if they do not give it to you just call another csr.

as far as roaming i am yet to find an area that it would matter in. as i have a verizon phone metro pcs and a T-Mobile phone on me at all times. when i dont have reception on my curve i dont have it on any of my other phones either.

if you need someone to help on this site i am here just hit me up.

as for the service books this forum only allows certain file types. i renamed the file to mp3. just change it to rar and you will be all set.

ok I have a boost mobile on the iden side monthly unlimited which the phone itself is dying out, a friend of mine gave me a Sprint BlackBerry 8330 cdma new from Sprint. Now since I already have the phone I want to use with Boost do I still have to buy a new or used phone to switch my service over to CDMA unltd or can I just enter the meid off the BlackBerry, on the website to activate the BlackBerry since it seems to me it would be the same thing talking to one of the CSR's

(oh and the walkie talkie doesn't bother me not haviing, I just want off the iDEN side of things)

The above post is right, reception can be on any network depending area your in you could have great reception with nextel or Boost. (note: is there no way to just delete a post on this form after posting it?)

No Roaming Off of Sprints Network(since nextel is the only iden carrier, if you got no coverage your stuck with no coverage)

    Very Slow internet

    Bad reception & call quality

Uhm... can you take that one off the list?

Cell reception is dependent upon location. Bad reception can be said about EVERY carrier from people in different regions. Also, call quality can be affected by reception, which is determined by region.

I have GREAT reception and call quality in my area (not to mention quick text speeds). I don't think it's fair to list that as a con since it's a given for ALL carriers...

Not true... the phones that WILL work will need some work done to them to get them properly working, however, not all NEXTEL phones will work with Boost... your post needs a little reworking.

thank you, because of this thread and others, I worked on this path...started with the first post above...and read others...after a month.(start to finish).. WHAM...got a HTC mogul and a MOTO Q switch from sprint to Boost unlimited. WOW feels good to not pay high cell phone bills anymore!!!

I actually bought like 6 phones total (1 i465, 2 c290, BlackBerry 8330, Mogul, Treo) and I had the Moto Q...I got luck on getting a bundle purchase.....

anyways I am now keeping the Mogul for me and Moto Q for my son...and selling the others.

thank you for this thread. i have searched a couple of other forums and ppl don't what they are talking about. i am already a boost iden customer with a fully working BlackBerry 8350i. when i got the phone i bought a disk off of eBay with the service books and a bunch of apps on it. which i later found on howardforums for free. whatever right.
now i am looking to get rid of the the iden service, not that i don't like it but nextel takes to long to release new BBs. i plan on getting a sprint BlackBerry for boost cdma service. i already know that i have to get a cheap boost cdma to start and then switch to the BlackBerry. (as i read your thread) i see that you have had a BlackBerry working on your account. now was it a fully working BlackBerry from the start. (i.e. browser, mms/sms). did you have load service books on it like i had to do with my 8350i ? thanks for any help you can give.

CAN I USE ANY UNLOCKED CDMA PHONE? I SAW AN UNLOCKED ONE ONLINE AND THE TECHNOLOGY IS CDMA2000 1X, 800/1900 Mhz, Like the ones that boost has for their cdma phones. Or does it have to be a Sprint or Boost cdma phone only?

    Thanks a bunch
