    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've also posted this on the HTC forums and had a bit of help.

Mmm, I'm confused now. I'd read the same thing on the internet about what you're saying.. however I called Optus Customer Service up twice and the first time I was told what you said. And the second time I called I was told (by both the Representative and his Supervisor) that everything should work fine; my cap plan would continue as normal, as just because I'm not using the iPhone, I'm still paying the same amount and the phone's still mine. I also visited an Optus Store and was told the same thing.

Can I ask who your sources are?

Also, I wouldn't need to go back to Optus with the iPhone after the remaining 12 months, would I?

The way I imagine it is that I'd simply sell the phone and start using the HTC without any extra costs. The only problem would be that I'd still be placing the monthly repayments for the phone ($16) which I don't eally care about anyway.

Just need confirmation about all this because I don't wanna go ahead with selling the iPhone and encounter problems.

    Thanks!
    Hey there!

An important thing to consider is that you need to be using an iPhone in order to remain on an iPhone rate plan as per the Optus iPhone FAQ's (which are available on our website). Once you sell your iPhone, you can change your rate plan to one of our standard plans, and add a Mobile Internet Pack to your service if you feel you're going to be using a bit of data with the HTC handset.

The person you're going to sell the iPhone to will not need to do anything in order to use your iPhone as long as it has been successfully network unlocked. Your friend will still be able to use the iPhone even after the rest of your contract has completed.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi there,

I'm currently half way through a 24 month $59 Cap Plan with a 16gb iPhone 3G. I was just wondering if I no longer wanted to use my iPhone, could I sell it to someone (after unlocking it) and continuing the plan in a HTC Hero. Would the data rates etc still come under my plan? And would it be a smooth transition with the person I'm selling te iPhone to; no chances of it being blocked because of an unauthorized sim etc.

Also, I wouldn't need to go back to Optus with the iPhone after the remaining 12 months, would I?
