An expert, I am not. I seem to remember mentioning that I've only had the damn thing a week as of today. I was posting my own impressions of the gizmo, as it applies to my life, job, and needs. I hope I haven't stepped on any sensitive toes in the process. And I agree with you that the iPhone is a marvelously handy tech goody.

Granted, some of those bundled apps would be extremely handy for many folks. But I don't need some of them, as I said before. Reading comprehension is key here.

Fact is, I've moved the stuff I'll never use to another home page. Out of sight, out of mind, as it were. I'd like to uninstall them completely at some point, but that's likely going to take some additional research and hacking. I track my stocks through my brokerage on my office PC. And I already have about 850 GB of music, and God only knows how many movies. So I really can't see paying Apple to buy more. They'll still have beer money without my $.99.

Your mileage may vary. Probably will.

I just got a 32 GB 3G-S. I've had it for a week now, without throwing the damn thing out the window. That oughtta count for something...

    Pros:
    - Lots and lots of wiz features and capabilities. Especially compared to the phone I upgraded from (Nokia 2285, vintage 2001), which could make calls and that's about it.
    - Simple voicemail setup. Nothing you really have to f*k with.
    - Simple email setup.
    - Simple pretty much everything.

    Cons:
    - It dropped the very first call I ever made with it. Probably a network issue, so we'll blame that one on AT&T.
    - Maybe a little too simple in places. I'd like more granular control over some of the core apps, like voicemail and voice memos.
    - Bundled apps that I don't need or want. Stocks, iTunes, YouTube... And no simple way to get rid of them, that I've found as yet.
    - Crappy documentation. This is the biggie. The documentation that came with the device could have been written be a teenager. It's sparse.

    The Wulfish bottom line:
The iPhone 3G-S is a really wiz contraption. It's great for impressing friends and coworkers who actually care about silly crap like what phone other people use. It's a tool for me, not a status symbol or a fashion statement. With third-party apps and third-party documentation, it's becoming right handy, indeed. It even makes phone calls...

The performance of this phone kills the 3G's.

Apple is doing a great job with the iphone.

The 3Gs brouhgt some performance to the demanding software.

I notice something like 20% quicker in general.
