I solved the problem of not being able to sync my droid razr maxx with my Outlook email by doing this:
    1. Log into Outlook on the computer where the Outlook resides that you want to sync with.
    2. Open the 'Tools' menu and select 'Connect devices and apps with POP'
    3. Choose the 'Enable' radio button.
Voila, my Outlook email now syncs with my droid.
    NO EXTRA SOFTWARE!!!

Seems like a lot of members have tried some of these and were either disappointed with the promised performance or, worse, screwed up their existing databases. I'm not in hurry to jump into this without seeing some success stories.

I think I saw some references to My Lync Advanced - anybody use it with success? How about My Lync Desktop - got any info on when it will be out?

    Thanks.
I tried MyLink Advanced. It worked, but has some limitations that I was not comfortable with. I have been using CompanionLink and really like it. When you set it up, if you do not check for it to sync with the Android apps on the phone, it syncs with Outlook with no problems. (If you do tell it to sync with the phone apps you are likely to get duplications and other mess).

I am using CompanionLink with my Droid Pro. Works fine - syncs Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks.

I have been using a Droid for nearly 2 years. I have IMPORTED the contacts from Outlook 2007 to Google contacts, but they do not sync. How do you get them to sync, and update, so that adding in either my phone or Outlook will show up changes in the other?

There is a chart available that shows most of the sync software solutions. Look it over and decide what is best for you based on your personal needs. It lists price (many FREE), what is synced (Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, email), whether it is through a USB cable or wireless (3G, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth), whether it requires Google to sync or not, and more. Each sync solution even has a short overview to help you understand what is positive and negative about it. The chart is at: www.syncdroid.net

Have read through mountains of messages on this subject (here as well as elsewhere) and there seems to be no answer to this question: How do we sync the Droid with the Outlook calendar and contacts *without* going through Google? I have tried all the software that says it does this, and so far *none* of it works. One of them so screwed up my contacts on my Droid that I cannot use them as a way to call people and still have to carry my Treo in order to have my contacts and calendar.
Isn't there a programmer somewhere who can fix this? There are a lot of people who would pay for a solution.

When you buy the droid, they set up a gmail account for you. If you already have a gmail account, you can use that. You must have one set up in the phone. I am able to use my gmail account to sync both my work and home outlook calendars, and all of my contacts from my phone to gmail and visa versa.

You simply load google sync on your home and work PC. Use the same email account when setting it up on the home pc, the work pc, and in the phone. If I add an event to my home Outlook, it appears in my work Outlook and in my phone, and visa-versa-versa. It works great. All of the contacts and events that are in my can be viewed when I login to my google account.

I was also able to set up a corporate exchange account in the droid. I have had it a few days and love it! I am connected to everything I need and everything I had in my blackberry I have here in the droid.

    Hello,

Yes, I believe ti does work in a corporate environment on an Exchange Server. However, I need it to sync my personal Outlook via USB and not thru cloud (i.e. Google Mail). Supposedly they've had this functionality somewhat available for a few months but have been experiencing problems - especially with the calendar.

So, I was wondering if those problems have been resolved.

    Thanks,

It works! I bought the Droid knowing that sync with Outlook could be a problem. It turned out to be no problem at all. 5 minutes working with my phone support person at work (who complained at first about the Droid) to set up my Outlook on the office Exchange server and I was in business. I didn't need to add any apps, just told the Droid the server info. That was it. It has worked beautifully both directions. I now have a dock to my office computer, but it is not necessary to sync the systems.

It's a great multi-purpose device, but a pain to use as a phone. I started out as a phone..

    Hello,

I'm waiting for this issue to be resolved as well before I replace my xv6800 (Win Mobile 6.1) with the Droid. I love the phone and all it's features but really need to sync email, contacts, etc directly with my laptop.

I understand that there is some software from CompanionLink that will sync via a usb cable but there were some problems with it initially. Have these been resolved and it can now be a reliable method for sync'ing ?

    Thanks,

Ok Possibly this is different in different regions, due to Verizon being a hodgepodge of smaller networks. I am in North Texas on a previous ALLTEL network, and when I set up my email on the Droid with my work account “which is on an exchange server" it synced perfectly all contacts, folders, message rules everything except the calendar. “Still working on that one. About a week after I had the phone all sync activity stopped. After trying everything I could think of and find on the net I resorted to asking Verizon for help. With the in-store tech and after several hours we were told there are different data plans and the one I was on didn't allow exchange server sync " of course for an additional 15.00 a month I could add that service" I politely told the tech to tell "upper level" support that he was full of sh@t and if it had worked once it should work again. To test there their data plan theory, they offered to at no cost to change me over to the upgraded plan and see if it would sync. Well it did sync as soon as the plan was changed over, however; I was not about to accept that it was going to take 15.00 a month to do this I said "ok good to know now change it back" phone has been synced ever since. After the ordeal was over the in-store tech and I were of the opinion that the change over in accounts simply reset the sync, it didn't enable it. He alluded to the suggestion that if in the future I experience this problem we should try the "data change theory" again to "test" the phones "function" and then change it back(wink-wink). What a great diagnostic tool! Any way all this to say; if your Droid is not syncing and you have an exchange server, find an accommodating Verizon rep to let you "test" the upgraded data plan, you may at most have to pay $15.00 for one month of service, however I think if you work on your people skills and find the right "mark" I mean Rep you can get a chance to try this theory. "Suggestion - find a Rep that personally owns a Droid, they will want to know if it works as well"
