    i can see that from internet your phone supports many file ext. and someone wrote that the manual should show how to set your mp3 as your ringtone. there is a possibility to make your mp3 as our ringtone. actually this model of samsung is not being sold here. but my phone shows all files where i put them.

    It's an SCH-u490

    Are you able to drop your MP3's onto the SD card in the ringtones folder and have it work? When I browse to the ringtone menu in the phone, there is no location option...the ringtones are all default, or the option "get new ringtones" is displayed, which of course just gets me online to buy them.

    I am able to use the MP3 files on the SD card through the phones player, so I know the phone can recognize and read the files.

    Is there a maximum file size per MP3 limit that you've run into?

    I've dropped an MP3 into the memory card folder titled ringtones, however when I browse to it on the phone, it's not listed. I'd drop it into the phone memory, but unfortunately I'm using win2k as an OS, and the phone isn't detected, and no drivers exist for it.

    Still shouldn't matter, if MP3's work as ringtones, it shouldn't matter what folder they are in.

    hello again;

    i can not write a private message due to message limit.

    my ringtones are self-made and i use them on my samsung star wi-fi without any problem. mp3 format should work with your phone i think.

    Has anyone figured out how/tried to make either an MP3 or .wav to work as a ringtone on this phone?

    Have to say, for an MP3 phone, its obvious they still want money from ringtones.

    I may try the MP3->.wav conversion and see if it works, but not really familiar with how to cut down the song length, so it may take me awhile. Just hoping someone had figured it out already and had a step-by-step that would save some time.

    Tried searching, both here and elsewhere, not finding anything that says it specifically works for the Trance.

    Thanks!
