I have an aging Samsung flip phone branded by Verizon. Cannot find a model number. I ran around with it in a bag filled with frozen water bottles, and the battery compartment got wet. Now it's on permanent vibrate, and the display is white. I cannot make or receive calls. Battery problem? Kaput? Advice?

Furthermore, if it is decidedly defunct, is there any way to retrieve the stored information on board?

I appreciate anyone's time to reply. Any suggestion will do. I am less the expert than probably anyone else on this forum.

    Tom,
I suggest you turn off the device for now and let it dry or
If you know how to disassemble the phone, like remove the cover, battery, etc use a drier to speed up the drying process, assemble it back and give it 2-3 days before turning it on, that's what I did to mine and luckily it still worked. Regarding the information onboard, if it has a memory card and its still working- you can still get the data, if its internal and you still have the jack or connector you can try checking it after the suggestion above is done... last option bring the phone to a local phone repair shop. Hope this helps and good luck.

To Abby- I would suggest for you to remove the front cover of the phone as well as the keypad and then try to clean it up a bit using a clean cloth. Oftentimes, a gadget/electronic can be fixed by just cleaning. If it doesn't work have it checked by a technician

To the one - Cell phone button don't work - Best to change the keypad. There is no other way you can make them working.

I'm a bit confused too about the post above. If the main problem in this issue was that the keypad was not working well, the why not ask for a technician for some help. You can't diagnose a mobile phones problem unless you're really an expert.
