Not an unreasonable request. While my needs are not quite that extreme, I have text and data turned off my line (and my 15-year-old son's). The only reason my wife has it turned on for her line is because some of her friends only seem to know how to text. I don't get it, either.

lol, no you're not. My mom feels that way too. Just be happy that your phone will be very inexpensive and will last longer as it will be a simpler phone.

Its easy to feel that way... lol

You mention the Star-Tac, i had one and thought it was a great phone, and i think the Razr will join my list of a solid phones that featured many things. Today in the world of communications we want, or expect our cell phones to do everything. People don't want to carry a GPS, music player, camera, laptop, gaming device, video camera, and many other devices that are being implemented into cell phones by-way-of APPS so your phone is a do all gadget.

The concept of reaching for your cell phone for all your needs is really a great accomplishment and a great luxury. Of course your needs and my needs, and our children's needs my differ, but you can satisfy all by purchasing one Gadget. The idea of sending an email, getting directions, sending a text, surfing the web, taking a photo, taking a video and posting it (QIK)... or sending it by-way-of your your cell phone to grandma across the country from your kids baseball game using a little gadget in your pants pocket... is simply mind boggling 15-20 years ago.

We take a lot for granted, especially if we grew up in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and maybe the 80's... making a call from a cell phone is a unbelievable concept, especially at cheap rates, i had a cell phone plan that cost 30$ a month for 30 minutes with roaming charges...lol and a hand held cell phone was the size of brief case... lol

With all the capabilities of a cell phone today, its easy to feel like your the only person on earth that just wants to make a phone call.

I am so sick of all the gadgets that cellphone providers are promoting these days. Am I the only person that does not need a camera, music, or data capabilities. I want to make phone calls and sending text messages seem like a step back in communications. Is there a cellphone that a person can see the screen in sunlight. I make calls from the cornfield as well as ski slopes and have to find shade or use my hand to try and see my screen. I have tried a military spec phone which was worse than my Motorola W385. One of my first phones was a Motorola StarTac which was a better phone than anything I have seen to date for making calls. I want to see someone make a phone call in -20 deg weather in bright sunlight on their Blackberry or I phone with their gloves on!!!!
