    yes it is - there's no way for Verizon to know that you're connected to a wi-fi network.

    Okay, so i recently purchased a Samsung i730 off of ebay.
    Initially, verizon tried to force the data plan upon me, but my phone, being made before the mandatory data plan release, did not require it.

    My question is this:

    Is it free to use my home wi-fi connection from my phone?
