you have to transfer your numbers from backup assistant first which VZW staff can help you with, then all you have to do is open a gmail account and then sync your phone to it. it saves your contacts to gmail so if anything ever happens you have all the numbers there. when you save a number the first time just make sure to select google instead of phone for the save to, otherwise you will have to delete it and start over.

Thanks for the reply. What a bummer I can't use Backup Assistant on the new phone.
I'll look up Outlook Mobil Security.

The DROIDs are completely separate from the previous products you have used from Verizon Wireless.

They do not contain Get It Now nor Backup Assistant. These are both Verizon Wireless trademarked products and are not available on any Android OS device. You can find comparable apps in the Android Market, most of which are free. Android Market is similar to what you were previously used to...except most apps are free and very little are actually created by Verizon Wireless.

To get the contacts you had on your previous device, take both your new and old device to a Verizon Wireless Communications Store and have them transfer the contacts to the new device. Then you can find a similar product in the Android Market (like Lookout Mobile Security) which backs up your contacts, text messages, and more. It also aids if you lose your device.

    Hi,
I've been using Backup Assistant on various LG phones for the past few years. I've now bought an HTC Droid ERIS due to the hinge breaking on my LG.

I'm new to the ERIS so I might be missing some program built in the phone. I can't find Get it Now or any other way to download Backup Assistant to the new phone. I can't imagine moving all my contacts one by one, I guess I'm spoiled since that was the way I did it back in the olden days.

Is there a version of BA on the new phone?
    Thanks for your help.
