    Had the same issue, found out that it was some kind of conflict with one of the hp updates. Couldn't ever figure out what so I just did a restore and fixed it right away, don't know how tied up you are with photos, music etc but a backup and restore helped me, if it's a viable option I recommend it.

    The phone does come up in iTunes and i can sync it without any problems. I've installed and uninstalled the Apple Mobile Device soft like a gazzillion times. Same with iTunes. USB cable is fine.

    Help?
