Samsung has recently announced the shipping of the first Multi-chip package (MCP) with PRAM from this quarter. The PRAM is known as the next successor of NOR flash for use in mobile handsets. The MCP based 512Mbit PRAM will support and be backward compatible with 40nm-class NOR flash memory.

PRAM is said to fix little problems that are due to the Flash memory and will bring a better and higher performance to certain applications such as photo imaging, multimedia messaging and recording video clips. PRAM is said to provide data storage that is three times faster than any NOR flash chips.
