Wind has a pretty good deal - though they might want to sell you their 3G USB stick, which ofcourse is simlocked to their network.

I am going to be in Northern Italy for about 2.5 months and I would like to get a local number and an iPhone with unlimited data while there.

I also need high speed wireless to use with my laptop.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I possibly use the iPhone and tether it for this purpose or should I get an individual card? I am not really worried about price, rather I need good service for work.
