I just spoke with Amber who is a tech support supervisor and was completely shut down on this problem (HTC eris 2.1 update). All of the well documented phone problems since the update are now happening to my wifes phone and our business is suffering because of it. How can we be compensated for business and customers already lost by my company due to this problem. When i asked who is responsible for the update coming on to the phone, she blamed HTC. My issue is that we bought our phone from verizon and pay money to verizon so why am i needing to call HTC? They are taking advantage of the convoluted mess of having three companies involved being google, HTC and Verizon. Getting the same useless phone as a replacement is not the answer to our problems as we continually lose money with our phone based business. My wife and I were both very happy customers at Verizon until this update and the response. We had a fair proposal that would make the situation right which Verizon will not agree to. She compared it to buying a tv at walmart and that any problems with the item must be taken up with the manufacturer outside of the warranty. I say that is apples and oranges since a phone is made up of the hardware, software and service and much different than a TV. It's like the cable company(verizon) selling you a tv then zapping it with something that breaks it. Please fix this VERIZON or you will hear from a lawyer soon and lose many customers!

My friend bought a Droid Eris. She did the update to 2.1 and started having issues. We did a hard reset on the phone, but still issues persisted. After taking the phone to Verizon, the update had double posted code to the phone, and could not be fixed. They gave her a new Droid Eris that had not been updated yet. So she's stuck on cupcake until Verizon and HTC workout the bugs.

So, I think I solved many of the problems. After extensive browsing of other forums/blogs regarding these issues (btw there are a mind blowing amt of people having similar issues), I followed a fellow user's advise and did a factory reset. This was a couple days ago and since then (fingers crossed) I'm no longer having so many issues. I will still like to find a way that I could override a contact's facebook photo with one of my own in my contact list.

I am having the same problems with my droid eris. After my system update, I lost my clock/weather widget, my texting cause increasingly slow, and my phone will randomly get put on vibrate or silent during a call and when I try to answer or call out to someone it doesn't connect. The problem with the calling seems to be my biggest and most annoying issue. Everytime this happens I have to restart my phone which seems to help temporarily. Is there a permenant fix or anyway around this problem?

I have been having the same issues. THe only thing I can tell to help with the phone calls going through is to restart the phone, which is a big hassle. I'm hoping someone has found a workaround for this.

Hello everyone. I recently completed a system update on my new Droid Eris (I was prompted to do so). Since then, unfortunately I have encountered a few issues. The photos from my album(s) that I have saved as the contact photo to some of my contacts are now replaced by my contact's facebook profile picture, even after I try to replace the photo. Before the update, when I linked a contact to their facebook profile I was prompted if I would like to use the facebook profile picture &/ add the birthday. This "prompt" no longer exist (I guess). Also, if I try to rapidly decrease my ringer volume using the side up/down arrow buttons my phone decides to restart. I previously did not have this problem. When I make phone calls the phone vibrates letting me know that the call went through. Is there a way to disable this? Lastly, sometimes when I make back to back calls the phone shows as if a call has gone through but I hear nothing and the person I'm calling does not receive the call & doesn't even show a missed call. If I turn the phone off and back on it seems to help. Please help

    ~Jess
