I just bought the Samsung sch r451c from Walmart as part of Straight Talk and would like to warn others before they make the same mistake. This is my own mini-review of th device.

It is a slider phone with a QWERTY keyboard which is nice. It has several bells and whistles that I like, but is missing some very important things.

    Pros:

    Slider with QWERTY keyboard
    Mp3 player
Bluetooth (can transfer files, not just headset compatible)
Fairly cheap only 99.00 dollars at walmart
    internet capable
    Really cool icon glossary

    Cons:

Disabled Java Script!!! (see below for further discussion)
Camera 1.3 mp goes on & takes photos on accident (like when it is in my purse)
Cannot transfer ringtones to micro sd card, only transfers "sounds"
Way too many error msgs when on internet sites
    Cannot shuffle ringtones
No USB port (may have adapter cable to connect to a USB, but havent found one)
Very easy to enter codes that lock phone and disable prepaid service
    Crappy pre-set ringtones and wallpapers
Cannot purchase Tracphone ringtones from handset, ust use PC
Memo pad has 160 character limit (can't use it for a big grocery list like other phones)
Will only hold a 2GB micro sd card (larger sd cards will not repeatedly work properly)
Extremely bad customer and tech support with extended/exxagerated hold times

    Note on disabled Java Script:

All of Straight Talk's cellular devices are disabled for Java Script due to the fact that they do not want anyone to overuse data (internet). They advertise for the $45 dollar unlimited plan that I have that one gets unlimited talk, unlimited text, and unlimited internet useage. While that is true, they have programs like java disabled to keep folks from getting on youtube or downloading/streaming movies and over using data. that essentially means they have put a cap of sorts on the amount of data the phone owner can access. other providers like AT&T and Verizon also advertise unlimited data plans (until recently, now only grandfathered data plans get that priviledge). Other carriers like these two offer unlimited data coverage up to a 5GB limit and can charge you if you go over, but you can still experience the entire gammut of the internet experience on your cellular device. I tried for several days to find a way to break through this disabled feature. During my "quest" as my husband called it, i discovered there is a way to enable and download java, but it is very risky. it involes entering a long string of numerical characters into the code entry box on the main screen. i tried this, at my own risk, and completely disabled my phone. that left me no choice but to call the slow misinformed customer service department who put me on hold seven times and changed my phone number (by accident). They also could not tell me if any of the straight talk phones could or did have java enabled.

    Note on error msgs:

So many times i cannot count i have gotten error messages while perusing the intrnet on the acceptable sites. Several of the messages I have been unable to decipher as to their meaning. During my research quest I encountered many other comments on similar sites about these msgs and their meanings, so Im not the only one stumped.
Examples of some of these msgs are: gateway 503 error, untrusted server certifficate, white certificate permission, and some kind of 402 error.

Thank everyone for allowing me to vent. If you are truly interested in this phone please do yourself a favor and thoroughly research it first. if i would have known just a few of these undesireable facts about this phone and its provider i am certain i would not have bought it.
