    Since 1 July 2010 all measures of the European Union to combat billshock for data roaming are implemented.

    In short:

    1) “The new rules will also protect consumers from "bill shocks" by introducing a cut-off mechanism once the bill reaches €50, unless they choose another cut-off limit."

    2) "If users do not put in place a limit by 1 July 2010, it will automatically be set at 50 euros ($65; £45)."

    There are still remaining questions how the cut-off will work and service is restored after being cut-off.

    The measure is aimed at Europeans with postpaid contracts, though prepaid contracts might also be included in the measure.

    It's yet unclear if the EU billshock measure applies for non-Euro postpaid / prepaid contracts.
