change the battery to have a try quickly, if it is "very hot", it is somehow dangerous

I think you need to replace mobile battery as soon as possible.

Howdy sellcellgroup, true cell phones heat up, but not all of a sudden to the point of not being able to hold it.

If the problem started suddenly after a year, it is either a battery problem or a short. Since cleaning the battery terminals worked, it may well have been a short created by the "black stuff" which sounds like some form of corrision to me.

As someone suggested, it may be time for punit12, to replace that battery. As there really should be no reason, with normal use, that a battery should have or produce "black stuff" on the contacts of the battery or the phone itself.

Old batteries can be prone to leaking, especially if there is any sort of over charging/heating problems. Corrosion, can cause shorting and over heating problems, which can lead to a battery exploding while being charged (had this happen to an RC car). And the corrosive goo from a leaking or exploded battery on the circuit board, contacts, plastic and any wiring inside of an RC car or cell phone is NOT a good mix.

If you guys are having problems with the Li-Ion batteries and they are old, GET NEW BATTERIES. Avoid knock off, third party batteries-they tend to overheat. Get only the correct Nokia brand to replace your old battery. You'll be glad you did.
Chances are, if you have 'black stuff' comming out of the battries at the terminals, your battery is leaking. A leaking battery will killl your phone quickly.

i found the problem- i phoned my network provider, and they told me to look at the battery. i found some black stuff covering the shiny bit of the li-ion bttery-after rubbing that off, it works!

may sound obviouse but sounds like something is overrunning or cooking the inside of your phone i would take it in to get looked at.

Hi all, this is my first post.
I have had my Nokia 6680 for a year now, and just today it's strted to become very hot near the top (where the camera is). I can't even hold it, it's too hot! What's wrong with it?
    thanks
    Punit
