How to Take Pictures on a Palm Treo 700wx:

The Palm Treo 700wx comes with a built-in 1.3 mega pixel camera. The camera lens is located on the back of the Treo and comes with a convenient little mirror so that you can take self portraits. This camera allows you to take pictures and videos, however for the purpose of this How-To, I will only focus on How to Take Pictures on the Palm Treo 700wx. If you would like to learn How to Record Videos on the Palm Treo 700wx, you can find this tutorial elsewhere on this thread.

To take pictures with your Palm Treo, click the phone’s Start button. You will find this button located at the top left of the display screen. Alternatively, you can simply press the Start button located on the Treo’s navigation bar. It is the button immediately to the right of the Talk button. Once you press Start, you will see many Program options available to you. To take pictures, you want to select the “Pictures & Videos” option. From there, select “Camera”.

To zoom in on an object, press the Up button on the Treo’s navigation pad. To zoom out, press the Down button.

To increase the brightness, press the Right button. To decrease the brightness, press the Left button.

To change to resolution of the picture, press the Menu button located at the bottom right of the screen. You then want to select “Resolution”. From there, you can select between the following resolutions: (1280 X 1024; 640 X 480; 320 X 240; 240 X 180; and 160 X 120).

When you are ready to take a picture, press the Center navigation key. If you have your sound turned up and this option selected, you will hear the sound of a camera shutter indicating that the picture has been taken.

To take a picture on a timer, press the Menu button when you are ready to set the timer. From there, select “Mode”. Under the Mode options, select “Timer“. This option gives you a 5 second timer before the camera takes a picture. To start the 5 second countdown, press the Center navigation button. On the bottom left of the screen, you will see the 5 second countdown display. When the 5 seconds have been counted, the camera will automatically take a picture.

To take multiple pictures in quick succession, press the Menu button when you are ready to start taking pictures. From there, select “Mode”. This time, under the Mode options, select “Burst”. The Burst option lets you take 5 pictures in a row one right after the other. To start taking the 5 pictures, press the Center navigation button once you have selected the Burst option. Note: You only have to press the Center button once for the 5 pictures to be taken as the remaining 4 pictures will be taken automatically.

Once a picture has been taken, the Treo usually readies itself to take another picture automatically after a couple of seconds. If this does not happen, press the “Camera” button on the bottom left of the Treo’s screen. If you wish to view your pictures, click the “Thumbnails” button on the bottom left of the screen. This provides you with an index of all of the pictures and videos that you have taken. Use the navigation keys to scroll through the pictures and the Center navigation button to select a picture.

To view all of your pictures in a Slide Show format, make sure that you are on the Thumbnails screen. From there, press the Menu button and select “Play Slide Show”. This option displays all of your pictures a couple of seconds after one another without any aid from you. If you wish to speed up the slide show or go back and view a picture, use the Left and Right navigation buttons as desired.

    Simple Summary:

Press Start --> Pictures & Videos --> Camera --> Center button to take picture --> Thumbnails to view pictures

How to Record Videos on the Palm Treo 700wx:

The Palm Treo 700wx has both picture and video capability. It comes with a 1.3 mega pixel built-in camera that has the ability to zoom in on small objects or on objects further away. If you want to learn How To Take Pictures with the Palm Treo 700wx, check out the post below. To learn How to Record Videos with the Palm Treo 700wx, please read on.

The quality of the videos taken by the Palm Treo 700wx is not professional-quality by any means, but there is relatively clear picture and sound. Having the ability to instantly capture an important moment or event on your cell phone can be a priceless feature and in this regard, the Palm Treo delivers.

To record videos on your Palm Treo 700wx, you should first go to your Today Screen. This screen is the main screen on your Treo and is equivalent to your computer’s desktop. From the Today Screen, click the Start button. This button is located at the top left of the Today Screen and is comprised of 4 different square-shaped colors. You can use your stylus to tap on this button or press the shortcut Start key located on your Treo’s navigation pad (it is to the immediate right of the Talk button). Once you select the Start Menu, a list of Program options appears. To record videos, you want to select the “Pictures & Videos” option. After you do this, select “Camera”. Once you have done this, you will notice that the camera lens (located on the back of your Treo) will be registering whatever you are pointing it at. On your screen display, you will see the object the camera lens is viewing. As you move your Treo, the object on the display screen moves as well. Although you are in Camera mode, to record videos, you have to ensure that you are in Video mode. To do this, press the Menu button located at the bottom right of the display screen. Once you press Menu, select “Video”. You should then see a little camcorder icon located at the bottom-right of the screen. This indicates that you are in Video mode.

To start recording a video, simply press the Center navigation button located on your Treo’s navigation pad (it is immediately to the right of the Start button). When you start recording, you will see a time stamp indicating how long you have been recording located at the bottom left of the screen.

To pause the video, press the “Pause” button indicated on the bottom right of the screen. To resume a paused video, re-press that same button. You will see that it is now labeled “Resume”. A paused video screen will blink intermittently and according to the Palm manual, if you pause your recording for more than 3 minutes, the video will automatically be saved.

To increase or decrease the brightness of the video while recording, press the Right and Left navigation buttons respectively.

To adjust the resolution of the video, press the Menu button and select “Quality” from the option choices. You can then choose between resolutions of 352 X 288 pixels or 176 X 144 pixels.

To stop a video, press the Stop button located on the bottom left of the screen. Your video is automatically saved in the My Pictures section of your Treo.

To view your video, click on the “Thumbnails” button of your stopped-video. This will take you to a small preview section of all of your pictures and videos. Use your navigation keys to select the video that you just took and press the Center button to play it. The video will automatically play on your Treo screen.

Congratulations! You have now successfully recorded a video on your Palm Treo 700wx.

Note: If you want, you can also save the video that you recorded as a ringtone for one of your Phone Contacts. To do so, select the video that you recorded and want to use, then press the Menu button on the bottom right of your screen. From there, select the “Save to Contact Ringtone” option and then select the contact that you wish to have that ringtone.

    Simple Summary:
Press Start --> Pictures & Videos --> Camera --> Menu --> Video --> Center button to record --> Stop
