If you keep having the issue even after buying a new battery then you should consider getting the phone fixed by nokia if the warranty is still valid.
I second that IMO it is never normal for a brand new phone to be showing up issues such as this until maybe a couple of months from when it was purchased depending of course on the usage pattern and the way you take care of your phone.. But a day after it was bought? Nah.. First thing I would do is to contact the store and would look into having it replaced right away

Even with the fact that you failed to do the initial charging which is highly recommended it is not normal for the battery to act that way so suddenly. Better check with the store you bought the phone from and let them know about the issue. Hopefully they may be able to replace it for you

It can be because of bad battery or due to charger not able to work properly!

here is what i suggest you to do.

    > how long do you have the phone already? If its less than a month. you can still go back to the store where you purchased the phone and let them know that the battery does not hold a charge.
    > 2nd, you need to sit out the battery OFF the phone for about 10-15 mins then put it back on the phone...
Do not turn on the phone yet and charge it while its off (you will need about 2-3hours)
    > afterso, Go ahead use the phone up if it is still doing the same thing...
    > Sorry pal, But you need to have a new battery, purchased it within an authorized Nokia Store, a Dealer or your Service Providers store. ( indication that the battery is original it has a nokia hologram sticker on it)

    hope this helps.

    Hi,
I recently bought a nokia 5130 xpress music. It will sound stupid but I started using it without charging!,later when i felt it is low on power , i gave some charging for an hour or so until it showed battery full. The very next day i realized that my battery is drying at a high pace...Now iam charging it every evening coz it just dies.
My personal assessment is that i should have given it a 12 hour charging before first use...as it never happened..it is driving me crazy.....
Iam not willing to replace the battery coz out here there is a lot of pirated stuff roaming around,i would really like to have a fix on my original battery...
Any sort of assisstance from u people will be more than appreciated.
