The battery seams to be fine it still shows and correct time and says it has full battery power when it starts.
can't remember exactly what i was doing before it happened but i only took a few pictures to test cam out etc.
as for reinstalling the software it says "mode can't be changed" error on the pc software when i try to connect to it by usb so doesn't look like theres anyway to reset it or reinstall the firmware that way.

It's tough to say, especially since you said it worked well when you first got it. Do you remember the last thing you did with the phone before it stopped working? Did you upload anything on it, changed a setting or maybe held it a certain way?

If it has been only a few days you should contact the person you bought it from immediately. Let them know the phone seemed to be working at first but then stopped responding. Don't come off sounding like you did something that caused it to stop working.

My guess is it's a software problem if the battery is fully charged and you didn't temper with any of the settings. If this was a Blackberry you can easily download and re-install the software. I'm not sure if you can do that with a Samsung.

It's always a risk buying from eBay, what I would suggest you do is go over the manual and read the part on the battery. Some of these device can behave like this when the battery is not properly charged. Your next step would be to pull the battery out for 5 or 10 minutes and re-insert it. If that doesn't solve the problem. Try reaching out to a local store, if not possible contacting the person you got it from will be the only option.

yeah the problem tho is that i bought it from e-bay (the phone itself was new),
so don't know if its under any warranty.
I wanted to make sure it wasn't some common bug that can be fixed, the phone itself looks in to be perfect condition.
like i said i have bairly touched the phone since i havent got it a sim card yet.

might be a hardware issue. If it's still under warranty since you said it's just a few days old you better contact the store where you bought it from and ask if they can replace it with a new one or at least repair it for you

Hey i just got my samsung jet a few days ago, haven't even got the sim for it yet and it froze on me.
well it didn't realy freeze it just went won't respond to anything and so goes on standby after a few seconds.
i tryed taking the battery out and it just doesn't respond to anything after it starts.
it seams to start up fine showing the right time and stuff.
its only a few days old and hasen't even left the house yet.
