Sounds like the phone may need a firmware update.

Is there any other option for people with a Vision Plan? I have a great plan though retention, but the only smart phone I could get on the most recent dealings with retention was the HTC Touch Pro2.

I've had it for a few months, and it does nothing but freeze up. If I want to reply to a text, I have to wait about 30 seconds to respond. I don't want to leave my Sprint plan, but this phone is driving me nuts.

Thats incorrect, from the inside. The only android phone that does not require a data plan at Sprint is the Motoroal i1 on the Nextel network. The HERO cannot be activated on your plan even with a $15 data pack. These codes you're refering to above do not exists. You cannot activate and android phone in CSM (customer service management) at Sprint, without getting a data validation error that cannot be overcome. There is no way to do it as a customer. Some indirect delears have special plan pricing for their own employees, but your account type cannot be an individial or business subscriber type.

The reason the i1 does not require the Everything Data plans, is because its on the nextel/IDEN network. Because your change to an i1 would be a network transfer, your current CDMA/Sprint plan would not carry over. Nextel has its own plan codes. The IDEN/Nextel network is permanenently stuck in 2G due to the frequency it uses. Since its not even at a 3G level there is not special plan requirement. The only reason that Nextel/Sprint is providing an android on the nextel side is due to the government/high business contracts they have.

The i1 would only be able to use the full android services while in wifi mode... so unless you're always planning on being near a wifi connection, that phone may not be for you.

And the plan you have isn't old, it was still available in 6/2008 in retention. Since then its been removed, as with most retention offers.

I'm reading that a motorola i1 does not need a data plan to activate, which leads me to believe I could use the vision plan I have with it. It is a nextel phone, however. Will that be an issue to activate it on the existing'sprint' plan?

    Hello,
I've been with sprint for a very long time, and have a very cheap plan I'm happy with. It's one of the vision data plans. I have a beatup Treo 700. I bought a almost new HTC Hero, and was told that I had to change plans to activate it. I do not want to change plans, and I don't want to sign a contract.

Can anyone tell me if there are any phones similir to the HTC Hero that I can still use on my old vision plan? I'll probably sell this phone for around what I paid for it, and will look for another slightly used phone for sale.

I've done my best to research this before posting, and have not had much luck.
    Thanks
