PS...be sure to enable "UBS Mass Storage". It is a pop up and won't talk to your system without it.

    ...peace.

This may be worth a try...if you have any other stuff on your PC related to LG like the software update used to load Gingerbread etc...delete it. Then download the PC IV suite from the LG site directly....this was a pain as the DL speed was revolting but got there.

Now here was something strange....I tried to install after "saving to desktop" like I always do and it hung up as I had clicked a couple of the "add shortcuts" options. I cancelled the install, the ditched the those options and it loaded perfectly.

I had this before and had nuked it out of frustration...but fired it up anyway, then and only then connected to the PC via the USB and it works perfectly. I am running a fairly standard Win7 PC (no need to list the hotted up stuff...I write websites too) so maybe there is something about the short cuts and icons that I can live without anyway.

Good luck...and delete the crappy auto and manual software updater first. You don't need it.

Hello friends, I got this phone yesterday lg p500 07/22/11 days and also had the same problem to synchronize the program suite lg 4.
mass storage without problems, but not synchronize the program.
    I did the following:

I went into settings - applications - development - USB debugging
Enable debugging of USB phone connected via USB without using the mass storage. Disable wireless and 3G, put it in airplane mode.
With the program suite lg aitvo could detect the USB and synchronizes smoothly.

    A hug.

I had exactly the same problem. I copied my contacs from the SIM card to the phone, but I was not able to transfer contacts to the LG Suite IV (program stops working). I solved it manually exporting the contacts from the phone to the Lg Suite, and then copying them back to the phone:

The solution starts "manually" exporting your contacts from the phone:

1.- In the list of contacts, press the leftmost button of the phone. In the menu press MORE. Then select IMPORT/EXPORT. Then select EXPORT CONTACTS TO SD CARD.

2.- Now, the entire list of contacts will be shown with a checkbox unchecked. Presss again the same button and then press SELECT ALL. Then press READY. Confirm the export process in the dialog box.

3.- Once finished the export process you will get a file in the SD card named for example 00001.vcf.

4.- Copy the file from the phone to your PC, connecting both by USB (and accessing the file in the STORAGE mode of the phone), sending the file by e-mail, or plugging the SD card directly on your PC.

Now we are ready to import the contacts from the file to the LG Suite program. So:

5.- Open the LG Suite program and select the option FILE -> IMPORT. In the dialog box select "vCard (*.vcf)". This will start the import process that will take some minutes depending on the number of contacts. Once finished, control the list of your contacts on the list.

Finally we have to copy the list back to the phone:

6.- Delete the entire list of contacts on your phone: press the leftmost button and select the option MULTIPLE SELECTION. This will show you the list of contacts with a checkbox unchecked (plus 4 options in a menu). Press again the leftmost button of the phone (not from the menu), then press SELECT ALL. Now select the option DELETE CONTACT in the menu. This will clear all your contacts.

7.- Connect your phone to the PC. In the list of contacts of the LG Suite press the button Synchronize (in the bottom). Now follow the steps offered by the software (select copying or replacing the entire list in the phone with the PC data).

After doing this, at least in my case, I was able to connect the phone to the LG Suite normally.

(Note: I was using spanish, both on the Phone's operating system and in the LG Suite program, so some options can have different names)

The fact that I solved it myself is irrelevant as I think he was only a heartbeat behind me.

The problem was simply that whatever I tried my contact list in the LG P500 wouldn't Sync with the LG PC Suite on the Desktop. We literally tried everything including sending the phone back to the engineers who returned it saying problem solved but it wasn't.

Messed around today and in desperation or was it intuition I did the following.

    1. I had already SHARED my Contacts via E Mail to myself and had those VCF files on my desktop.
(Win7) Open Contacts, multi select all then sent to myself via E mail. Open E mail and download
ALL attachments to a file in Documents. You now have a complete set of vcf files of all your
    Contacts.

    2. I cleared the few contacts that had managed to sync from the PC Suite. So Contacts in PC suite
    now totally empty

    3. Now the scary bit! I then deleted all contacts from all sources in the phone.

    4. From the PC Suite I then Imported my vcf files from the Desktop into the PC suite. Make sure to
select VCF files not CSV otherwise it wont work.

    5. I then tried Sync again.

    It worked!!!!!!!!!!

I have then since thoroughly tested the system. Everything syncs back and forth no problem. I can add, delete and modify in both phone and PC Suite and all is well.

Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem. LG are looking at the problem and may well modify their software in the future.

Spent hours yesterday. Thought i had solved it. Old phone was a Sony Ericsson and the memory card wasn't compatible with new LG. So contacts were on the SIM Card. Couldn't find a way or it wouldn't let me transfer from the SIM en mass so i spent 2 hours transferring Contacts. The one positive that was once they were off the SIM and in the phone my editing options increased and I could set them up as wanted.
    However, still won't sync.
Took old Sony backup (DBK file) openened it with win zip and this I could manually upload as a V card (vcf file) from and into the suite. All very well but the suite runs slow and jerkily when you then try and do anything with amending the contacts. Amazing as I have Win 7 and kick ass memory etc so the machine is big enough.

Might try getting rid of the suite. ( I use Revo Uninstaller which goes looking for left over registry files after uninstalling) Then reloading the suite from what came with the phone and initially not updating it.

Don't hold out much hope. Disappointed Own fault, now locked into a 2 yr contract for what I feel is a clumsy phone.

Was hoping for some good answers to this issue as well. I would be nice to have access to the contact list on a PC, as well as other things like music and such.

I have the same problem. Just got the LG-P500 yesterday. In the suite the photos and music seem to sync over but not the section of Contacts etc: Phone is connected but it says it isn't responding.

There is something at the beginning that says you have to have your 3g or wifi activated for it to work. Although I don't see the significance of that when it comes to simply transferring one set of files from one source to another.

This mass storage setting on the phone is confusing as well.

Copying contacts over onto the PC so I can edit them is real important. I too would like help here
