You can now use the AT&T iPhone on Straight Talk.

You can purchase Straight Talk through Hildretech. The cost of the SIM card is $59.99, including the first month of service. The cost of the plan is $45 for each additional month, and includes unlimited talk, text, and data.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by sending an email to [email protected].

question regarding purchasing the nokia e71. why not just purchase an ATT compatiable sim card directly from straight talk and use it with the iphone?

I talk to the lady at walmart you works in the cell phone area and she said the vendor for straight talk was telling her that straight talk is coming out with a card that will unlock your att or verizon phone and you will be able to use them for straight talk. so watch for this to come out on the next 4 or 5 months. So excited!

    Greetings

After feeling tired of the bad service and price gouging from atnt, I started researching alternative companies. But of course I didn't want to give up my iPhone--which brought me here. Special thnx btw to Samuel for laying it out succinctly and inspiring me to sign up here.

    This is my situation:
I live in LA, have an iPhone4, and bought a refurbished NokiaE71 phone through their website--along with the requisite plan.

After reading the entirety of this thread, my understanding is you DONT need to jailbreak or unlock the phone to complete the conversion for the basics(calling messaging) to work.
So i tried popping in the E71 sim but I noticed it was too big! So I carefully shaved down the lip that would t let it fit with some sandpaper and put it in my iPhone, but te iPhone doesn't recognize it.
I put it back in the e71 and sure enough it works fine despite shaving the lip.

Something else I noticed is the sim provide with the E71 has te traditional looking connecters instead of the 'moasaic' looking connecters that cover the entirety of one side I the sim like the atnt one. I hope this makes sense.

Allie, you need to purchase the Straight Talk model Nokia E71, that is the only one that has the unlocked AT&T sim card. Read my previous posts on here. Right now you can purchase a Nokia E71 for fairly cheap on the Straighttalk.com website. Its $99, and that will give you the necessary sim card you need. Good luck!

i can send you the link if you like..

Can you get me more clarity as to how I can get youmail to work on my Nokia e71 straight talk phone...that operates on AT&T towers

You simply install it, register and log in and it will add in your "contacts" list two phone numbers - one called "YouMail Activate" and another "YouMail Deactivate". By dialing "YouMail Activate" it send a code to the carrier to conditionally forward unanswered or busy calls to YouMail which then notifies you that you got a message by putting a number on top of the YouMail app icon. When you touch it opens the app and presents you with the visual voicemail controls which work similarly to the default voicemail control, except that YouMail has more options.

To turn off the feature you simple dial "YouMail Deactivate". For a monthly fee you can also have the voicemail in text format.

Go to youmail.com for more details...

You can do a very similar thing with Google Voice, although it's not as "plug-and-play" as youmail. If anyone is interested in doing that, let me know.

if u get a straight talk phone with a sim, wen u activate it, the sim locks to that phone. i had 2 of the same straight talk phones(mine & my girls) samsung t528g and i took the sim out to put in my unlocked jailbroken iphone 2g it said sim error and wouldnt work. i removed the sim from iphone put it in my girls phone who has the same exact ST phone as mine and it said sim error. so i put it back in my ST phone and it works fine! so im thinking if u get a straight talk phone & sim u must activate the sim to ur iphone imei and u could most likely be able to use any sim from ST on ur iphone as long as it hasnt been activated to a phone yet. wen my att time is up witch is in about a month im gona try with a cheap ST sim phone 1st, but if any1 does it sooner let us know how it went!
