The Just5 cell phone is just right for your Dad. This phone is especially designed for the elderly so he would certainly enjoy it. Specifically, the phone offers practical features like big buttons, amplified sound, and an emergency response system for greater safety. Its volume can go as loud as 100 db so your Dad won’t have a hard time understanding you with this phone. The phone is rugged, too.

I have read about the LG E900 on timtechs and it's got Gorilla glass which can withstand accidental drops without shattering or cracking the screen

what can we really do to the 580. I have wondered how much water and abuse it can take?

Even though it's more money, the Motorola 580 (Nextel) is way tougher than the 560. The 580 is totally encased in solid rubber, where the 560 is all plastic. The antenna on the 580 is really beefy and should hold up to tons of abuse.

If your dads provider is sprint(nextel) look at the motorola i560 or i580 both are Ruggedized MILSPEC 810f for dust, shock, vibration, and blowing rain. Designed for construction workers.

My dad is 70 and does construction work. I need to find him a phone with good, loud voice quality since he's losing his hearing. It also needs to be rugged as he still does construction, climbs under houses, etc. So no Motorola's with antennas to snap off easily.

Shopping for my phones is easy as there's plenty of reviews for gadget geeks. But I can't find much in the way of information on a phone like this.
