It's time for me to get my own plan, and I'd love to get an android phone, but don't really care for the price tag of some of the plans out there. So here's what I'd like to do, please feel free to make comments and/or suggestions.

The current plan is to get the Optimus V with Virgin Mobile and their $25/month unlimited data+300 min. plan. I don't talk much, but have a decent online presence so the plan and wifi are important. However, I also go camping/backpacking and the limited coverage of VM won't cut it, which is where a second phone comes in. I'd rather avoid having two phones, but I'd only use it while outside or on long trips and I can forward calls for that weekend if needed.
For that phone, I'm leaning towards a LG Tracfone that gets a supposed 23 day stand-by time, double minutes for life ($100/year=$8.33/month) and can roam.

I'm looking into PlatinumTel since they have the by-the-day plan with $10 for 90 days ($40/year=$3.33/month), but I'm not sure what "on-network roaming" is and if that would actually cover me in odd places like Kentucky's Land Between the Lakes (an example I know that isn't covered by most without full roaming).

I would love some opinions on these ideas and I'll take any serious suggestions as well.

    Thank you.
